BIOGRAPHY

The Spanish artist Virginia Rodríguez Cañete was born in Madrid in April 1970. Living in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, from a very young age she felt attracted to painting and began, since then and in a self-taught way, a search for the expression of sensations and impressions based on lines and colours that would allow her to share her personal vision of the world around her.
She combines the studies of Fine Arts with those of Interior Architecture, developing her professional career around it without ever straying from painting.

"Puede parecer que la cometa avanza sin sentido,
que gira insinuante bajo un cielo de nubes blancas,
tan al azar como la estela que pinta.
Pero no es cierto.
La cometa vuela escuchando el ritmo de las olas.
Mientras, el pincel arrulla, cariñoso, al lienzo
adormecido con el color de la mañana.
Y yo, en silencio, observo, hasta que calle la ola."

Currently, her work revolves around the ballpoint pen, a technique with which she has been experimenting for twenty-three years now and which she models based on what each new painting suggests to her.It is the Mellado and Sokoa galleries, of recognized prestige, who bet on her work.
